I went to Gold Rush twice: once in the afternoon, and once in the evening (after 10 pm).
Positives first: it has this upscale atmosphere - lots invested into equipment and lights, non-dancer staff wear ''nice'' uniforms, etc. Looks and feels clean and well maintained. A good number of girls dancing - takes a while to see everyone in rotation. In the afternoon, parking was free, there was no cover charge, and 2-for-1 drinks (happy hour).
Now not-so-positives:
1) In the evening, parking is $10 or even more - unless you park far away and walk through blocks that don't look too safe;
2) Cover charge is additional $15.
3) Even with a lot of girls, most had just-above-average looks, only a handful were really hot.
4) Instead of a clear pricing structure, it seems a free-wheeling chaos where each girl has a free reign to try to rip you off as much as she dares.
Now, REALLY NEGATIVE.
It's billed as a full-nude strip club - and girls run a conspiracy to reduce stripping to the minimum!! No, I am not smoking something funny - I am serious!! They'd stay on stage for 3-song sets and only during the 3rd song take their top off! Some would, like, unbuckle their panties but still would not take them off. Tipping reasonably (and not like I've lost my mind - i.e., a couple of dollars) would not entice them to tease you more. So I asked one of the girls what was up with that, told her that I wanted to see more. She said, ''OK I'll show you'' - and during her next stage set would only do it by getting right in front of me and pulling her panties to the side, almost looking around to see if anyone was noticing. So I again asked what was up with that, and she said, ''Oh, we can't get all naked on stage because of what other girls will begin to say about you''. So girls run a clique there that applies peer pressure to girls to not really undress too much!! Can you believe that?! I stayed a while and saw a whole new set of dancers arrive for the late shift, and they were all acting the same. Except one girl who got on stage already naked at the very start of her set (did not bother to put clothes on after a private dance, I figure) - and seeing that, the jaw of the original girl I was asking about it dropped and she said, ''wow, I would not be able to get away with that!''. Later it turned out that it was the 2nd day the girl who got on stage all naked worked at the club since she moved from another city - she just didn't get indoctrinated yet.
Anyway. Tableside dances were $10 in the afternoon and $20 in the evening (seemed to be that way more at girls' discretion than a rule of the club, and even agreeing to $10, girls seemed irritated by it). They did get naked but teasing was lackluster and pretty much no contact.
Then they have private dances in the room in the back. With those, only 2 things are certain: you pay $25 to get into a downstairs ''room'' (booth) and $50 to get into an upstairs room. The difference apparently is that downstairs it is supposed to be just topless, and upstairs full nude. They themselves seem to be confused about it. Once you paid to a dude to get into the room, you pay extra to the girl for actual dancing. I heard the rate $30/song, and apparently for that little money you can't really touch - only the girl can, as little as she chooses. Bargaining about those rules during the songs was a real turnoff :-). They try to sell you not per song, but per half-an-hour though, and girls in the evening demanded $300 and more for that, though promised all kinds of contact and a ''happy ending'' :-) I declined :).
I felt being ripped off all the time, still blew a lot of money, and bargaining plus outrageous prices plus girls just not stripping, totally ruined the experience for me. I definitely will go somewhere else next time, like Scarlett's in Pembroke Park - had a good time there.
That said, just to be fair, the only bright spot at Gold Rush was on my afternoon trip, when the only girl who was rather pretty, did a back room dance for a pretty reasonable price and was very eager to treat the ''just topless downstairs'' rule as a formality, wanted to please with contact - and so had a good time herself. So as always, a lot depends on an individual girl. But still - go elsewhere guys, Gold Rush is a ripoff that kills the mood!
